The air we breathe...
a positive influencer or a negative influencer?

Air quality, temperature, and humidity have a direct impact on concentration, health, and performance - yet we rarely notice them until something goes wrong. Lota turns the invisible into measurable data, and the measurable into better conditions.

The air we breathe at work, at school, or at home is rarely top of mind - until people start feeling persistently tired or something begins to bother them. Carbon dioxide, humidity, temperature, and volatile compounds are all factors that have measurable effects on health and performance, even if we do not notice them right away. Lota maps the air quality in the space, analyses what is affecting it, and helps you turn the problem into a strength.

Negative influencer vs. positive influencer

Poor air quality is a silent negative influencer. When ventilation is inadequate, humidity too low, or temperature outside the comfort range, people feel fatigue and heaviness - often without connecting it to the environment. Good air quality reverses this and supports health, wellbeing, and performance in the space.

Fatigue and heaviness

When carbon dioxide builds up and ventilation is inadequate, people often feel tired and have difficulty concentrating long before they connect it to the air itself. Lota measures the situation, identifies the cause, and helps you respond before the problem becomes part of everyday strain.

Air that is too dry and increased illness

In Iceland, indoor air often becomes very dry during the winter months, sometimes with very low humidity. When cold outdoor air is heated, the moisture level drops even further. Air that is too dry can weaken the mucous membranes and reduce the body’s defenses against infection. Research suggests that better humidity balance supports health and wellbeing more effectively and may, in some workplace settings, be linked to lower sickness absence.

Too warm - and performance drops

The comfort temperature for office work is generally around 21-24°C. When the temperature rises above that range, performance often starts to decline. Overheating is a negative influence: people adapt to the conditions and do not always notice the effects, but both performance and wellbeing show the signs.
